DeVry is a for-profit university known for its online programming.
It was founded in 1931, and started calling itself DeVry University in 2002. DeVry serves approximately 27,000 students through a number of regional campuses (approximately 55 locations across 18 states) and the web. It has partnered with the NFL and MLB, and worked closely with Democratic lobbyist Heather Podesta, a longtime Clinton ally. DeVry offers Associates, Bachelors, Masters and Graduate Certificates through colleges of Business & Management, Graduate Management, Engineering & Information Sciences, Health Sciences, and Arts & Sciences (which covers Education, Technology and more).

DeVry offers an online MBA with a concentration in Project Management. Classes for this program start every eight weeks. The program allows students to tailor their courses to their own interests within PM. Courses in the concentration include Managing Quality, Advanced Program Management, Project Cost and Schedule Control, Contract and Procurement Management, and more. The program culminates with a Capstone project. This program also features a “TechPath,” which will give students experiential and technical skills to help them lead effective projects.

East Carolina University

East Carolina University is a public, doctoral/research university based in Greenville, North Carolina. Its the third largest in the state. ECU serves over 28,000 students, and offers many different health related science majors. ECUs graduate programs include 85 master’s degrees, 21 doctoral programs and 62 certificates. It has been commended by a number of publications. In 2012, East Carolina was classified by U.S. News & World Report as a National University in its second-tier rankings. In 2010, Forbes ranked the school 36th in its America’s Best College Buys story.

ECU offers an online MBA program. It has been accredited by the AACSB since 1967, and consistently ranks as a Best Buy in online education. Students will become well versed in modern economics, marketing, accounting, finance, strategy, operations management, information systems, and supply chain management. The goal of the program is to create business and community leaders. It offers an Operational Management concentration. Sample courses include Quality Management, Management Science, Supply Chain Systems, Project Management and Quantitative Methods. Scheduling for this program is largely self-directed. Students can take between one and five classes each semester, and take a semester or more off at their discretion.

Stevens Institute of Technology

SIT is a private, research university located in Hoboken, New Jersey. It was incorporated in 1870, and is one of the countries oldest technological universities. It currently serves more than 6,600 students and has a 10:1 student-to-faculty ratio. Stevens offers 29 undergraduate majors, 43 Master’s programs, 22 Ph.D. programs, 122 certificate programs, and graduate-level programs that are custom designed for corporate consumption through schools of Engineering and Science, Systems and Enterprise, Arts and Letters, and Business. It has been ranked 12th Nationally for Return on Investment for Students by PayScale, 6th in the nation in Best Career Placement by The Princeton Review and 69th among all universities by USNR.

Stevens offers an online MBA. It requires 48 credits. It has been ranked the best in New Jersey by USNR. The program prioritizes technology, analytics and data to give graduates a leg up on the less tech savvy competition. Students will build collaboration and communication skills in group projects and presentations, as well as creativity and critical thinking skills. Students can get involved in faculty research into management, analytics, innovation and marketing.
The program also features the Field Consulting Program, which pairs students with a partner company to solve real problem or explore potential business opportunities. The program offers a Project Management concentration to give graduates the skills to take a leadership role in complex projects. Sample courses include Project Analytics and Project Management Fundamentals.

WRIGHT STATE UNIVERSITY

WSU is a public, research university headquartered in Fairborn, Ohio. It was founded in 1967, after breaking away from Ohio State University and Miami University. Wright serves over 16,600 students, and offers a 17:1 student-to-faculty ratio. It conveys bachelor’s (over 90 programs), and master’s and doctoral degrees (more than 130 programs) through schools of Education and Human Services, Business, Liberal Arts, Nursing and Health, Science and Mathematics, and more. Recently the school has banned tobacco, and offers courses to help students and staff quit tobacco. Its ranked 231st in the nation by USNR.

WSUs online MBA can be taken on a part-time or full-time schedule. Some courses may not be offered online in this program, and students can build an on campus, online or hybrid delivery method that suits their lives. Concentrations offered include Business Economics, Finance, Health Care Management, Interdisciplinary Business, International Business, Investments, Marketing, Management, Innovation, and Change, New Venture Creation and Project Management. The Project Management courses tackle project planning, execution, and control. Students will study how businesses, governmental agencies, and not-for-profits execute projects to further organizational goals. Students will build time management skills, fiscal responsibility, and more. Courses cover planning, budgeting, and scheduling, contract and subcontract management, negotiation and dispute resolution, and current project management software and tools. The program culminates in a final project: planning, carrying out, and reporting on a service project for a non-profit client.

Walden is a for profit private school headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Walden is part of a network of 80 universities owned or managed by Laureate Education Inc. Most of Laureates schools are outside the United States. Walden was established in 1970. It serves over 52,500 students and has an 18:1 student-to-faculty ratio. Walden University has been regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, a regional accreditation agency, since 1990. A Senate committee that compared Walden to other comparable universities found it to have extremely competitive pricing.

Walden offers an online MBA in Project Management. The program can be taken through Waldens proprietary “Tempo Learning” method, which is self-paced and competency-based. The program requires 36 total credits, broken into 24 semester credits of core courses, 9 credits in the specialization, and a Capstone for 3 credits. Students can transfer up to 18 applicable credits. They’ll build skills in people motivation, teamwork, supervising complex projects and produce cost-effective results through this program. Students will use firsthand experience to understand how to avoid common problems in complex projects through real-world exercises.
Walden has approved for its project management training by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
